Sanborn (APA-193) served as an attack transport of the Haskell class. The Kaiser yard at Vancouver built her. She was launched on 19 August 1944 and commissioned on 3 October 1944, a ship fitted to carry a landing force and the boats that would take that force ashore.
On 18 February 1945 the ramps of her landing boats went down on Blue Beach at Iwo Jima.
Late in March she went to sea with the amphibious force headed toward Okinawa. Her part in the approach was a feint. She then waited with the ships of the floating reserve until 11 April, and from that duty she made her way back to Saipan.
Sanborn came through the war. The Navy decommissioned her on 14 August 1946.
