Sarasota (APA-204) served as an attack transport of the Haskell class built by Permanente Metals at Richmond. She was launched on 14 June 1944 and commissioned on 16 August 1944.

She was built to land soldiers from her own boats, and Lingayen Gulf was where that work fell to her.

On 9 January 1945 she was inside the gulf. Boats from the ship carried troops in to Crimson Beach, close by the town of Lingayen.

When the landings were finished she went on to Leyte. There she turned over the casualties who had come aboard from that beach.

Sarasota survived the war.
