Sevier (APA-233) served as an attack transport of the Haskell class. Kaiser built her at Vancouver. Kaiser put her in the water on 16 November 1944. Commissioning followed on 5 December 1944.

She kept a waiting station roughly 100 miles from Iwo Jima until 14 March 1945. That day she anchored.

Marines from the 4th Division, men who had already gone into the assault, came aboard to be taken off the island. On 20 March she sailed.

Sevier survived the war. Two battle stars mark her wartime record.
