USS Tautog (SS-199) was a Tambor-class submarine of the United States Navy. The letters SS marked her as a submarine, and the hull number 199 belonged to this boat.
On 7 December 1941 she was at Pearl Harbor. The Attack on Pearl Harbor found her in the harbor, with the ships gathered there that day.
She came through the attack afloat. The submarine that lay in the harbor was not sunk, and the hull was still whole when the day ended.
Her part in that morning was presence inside the harbor while the attack fell on Pearl Harbor. She met the blow in port and remained a Tambor-class submarine still afloat.
Tautog survived the war. The boat that had been at Pearl Harbor on 7 December 1941, and had come through the attack without being sunk, was still in existence when the war ended.
