Tazewell (APA-209) served as an attack transport of the Haskell class from Permanente Metals at Richmond. She was launched on 22 August 1944 and commissioned on 25 October 1944.

The morning of 26 March 1945 placed her off Kerama Retto. Every boat was in the water at 0530, and at 0800 the assault troops went onto the beach. Opposition there came to almost nothing. Air attacks had opened shortly after 0630, and the ships spent the day at general quarters.

On the morning of 16 April her boats left for Ie Shima at 0610. At 1600 she withdrew. She came back the next day and finished the unloading.

Tazewell survived the war. One battle star was hers, and she was decommissioned on 27 December 1946.
