Cecil Charles Acland Allen had Ceres from 21 April 1942 until 11 June 1943. That is the long Eastern Fleet command: Kilindini, the Simonstown refit, and the Indian Ocean convoys into 1943. He is not Roland Charlton Allen, who had her later. The careers and the full names are different.
Uboat.net records that he was born on 15 December 1894 in London and died on 28 March 1960. It gives no place of death.
The rank table lists midshipman on 15 September 1912, acting sub-lieutenant on 15 September 1914, sub-lieutenant on 30 June 1915, lieutenant on 30 December 1916, lieutenant-commander on 30 December 1924, commander on 30 June 1930, and captain on 31 December 1937. He retired on 8 January 1947. The page lists no decoration and says it has no career narrative.
He took her on 21 April 1942, just after the move toward Kilindini. Mason has her based there for convoy defence from May through August 1942, refitting at Simonstown in September, and on Indian Ocean convoy defence afterwards. In March 1943 she joined the ocean escort of WS26 off Durban. In May she was under refit at Bombay. He left on 11 June 1943, as she was resuming convoy defence, and Roy Carlton Harry took her. Unithistories starts Harry on 31 March 1943, which would cut this command short. That date is not used. Allen is kept until 11 June, which is the only list that dates both officers without a gap.
He retired on 8 January 1947. He died on 28 March 1960.
