Roland Charlton Allen had Ceres from 14 April 1944 into late 1944, as an acting captain. She was the depot ship at Gooseberry 1 in June. He is not Cecil Charles Acland Allen. Uboat.net's end, "late 1944," overlaps Charles Richard Garrett, who starts on 4 December 1944. No dated relief was found, so both commands are entered as printed.

Uboat.net records that he was born on 28 March 1900 at Twyford, Buckinghamshire, and died on 12 November 1950. It gives no place of death.

The rank table lists sub-lieutenant on 15 January 1921, lieutenant on 15 April 1922, lieutenant-commander on 15 April 1930, and commander on 30 June 1936. The acting captain's date is printed as unknown. He retired on 5 May 1948. The page lists no decoration and says it has no career narrative.

He took her on 14 April 1944 from Wilmot Pynson Bennitt. Mason has her nominated that month as depot ship at Gooseberry 1, east of St Martin de Varreville, with the 6-inch guns and the pom-poms removed at Devonport. On 8 June she sailed, and on 9 June she began duty as depot ship and control ship. She was released in July, resumed accommodation-ship duty for Plymouth Command in August, and paid off into reserve in October. If his command ran through that paying-off, the pages do not say so. They only say late 1944. Garrett's list starts on 4 December, while she was being moved to Fountain Lake at Portsmouth.

He retired on 5 May 1948. He died on 12 November 1950.
