Frank Monroe Jr. had Springfield (CL-66) for a short stretch on the west coast. NavSource lists him as captain from June 1948, with no day, until 28 September 1948, and gives his final rank as rear admiral. The class year on that line is 1923. DANFS does not name him.
No birth, death, or hometown was in the sources fetched for this ship.
The NavSource line gives the Naval Academy class of 1923 and nothing else before the cruiser.
His command is postwar. The list gives no day in June 1948 when he relieved Robert Edward Jasperson. It relieves him on 28 September 1948, the day it starts John Sim Slaughter. DANFS still has the ship on the west coast. She did not reach Yokosuka until 3 November 1948.
The list prints rear admiral as his final rank and names no later ship.
