Frederick Stanley Walford had HMS Argonaut as a commander in two short spells during her repair in 1943. Uboat.net dates the first from 6 January to 28 March, and the second from 27 July to 27 October. No Navy List page was found for him. The naval-history chronology does not print his name.

Uboat.net says he was born on 4 January 1903. It gives no place and no death.

The page lists him as acting sub-lieutenant from 15 May 1923, sub-lieutenant from 15 November 1923, lieutenant from 15 December 1924, lieutenant-commander from 15 December 1932, and commander from 30 June 1940. It dates his retirement 4 January 1953, his fiftieth birthday. It gives one decoration, an OBE on 13 June 1946, and does not say for what.

HMS Argonaut is under temporary repair at Gibraltar in January and February 1943, sails for the United States on 5 April, and is taken in hand at Philadelphia on 30 April. His first command sits at the start of that repair. Acting Captain Henry John Haynes is the commanding officer on uboat.net from 28 March to 27 July, and the Navy List compilation starts Haynes on 16 March, so the two lists overlap in March. Walford's second command is the last part of the Philadelphia repair. The chronology completes the repair and refit in November 1943 and brings the ship home on 2 December. His uboat.net page has no events. The only other command on it is the minesweeper Rinaldo, from February 1945 until mid-1946.

The page ends with the retirement on 4 January 1953 and the 1946 OBE. Nothing between Rinaldo and that date was fetched.
