Guy Beresford Amery-Parkes commanded Ceylon from 28 April 1943, before she was finished, until 12 May 1945. He accepted her from Alexander Stephen on 13 July 1943 and had her for the Eastern Fleet strikes on Sabang and Soerabaya and for the bombardments of Sabang.
Uboat.net gives his birth as 23 February 1898 and his death as 29 October 1955. It gives no place for either, and it says it has no career note beyond the ranks and two commands. It lists no decoration.
Uboat.net's rank line is midshipman on 2 August 1914, acting sub-lieutenant on 15 January 1917, sub-lieutenant on 15 July 1917, lieutenant on 15 June 1919, lieutenant-commander on 15 June 1927, commander on 30 June 1932, and captain on 30 June 1940. He retired on 2 June 1947.
His other wartime command on uboat.net is the netlayer Guardian, from 5 August 1940 to 12 April 1941. He was appointed to Ceylon on 28 April 1943. She left the yard for Greenock on 5 July, ran full-power trials on 12 July, and was accepted the next day. He took her out to Trincomalee and the 4th Cruiser Squadron. In March 1944 he had her for Operation DIPLOMAT. In April she and Gambia screened Illustrious and Saratoga for the Sabang strike, Operation COCKPIT. In May he covered the Soerabaya strike, Operation TRANSOM. In June he covered the Port Blair strike, Operation PEDAL. On 25 July and again on 24 August she bombarded Sabang. After the Durban refit he took her back to the Eastern Fleet. In January 1945 she covered Operation LENTIL and then the tanker group for the Palembang strikes, and she returned to Ceylon instead of going on to the British Pacific Fleet. In April and early May he had her for the Rangoon covering force, Operation DRACULA, and for the bombardment of Car Nicobar and Port Blair, Operation BISHOP. Captain Kenneth Lanyon Harkness relieved him on 12 May 1945.
Uboat.net dates his retirement to 2 June 1947 and his death to 29 October 1955. It does not say what he did in those two years.
