John Phillip Womble Jr. had Springfield (CL-66) from 12 March 1946 to 23 October 1946. NavSource lists him as captain and gives his final rank as rear admiral. DANFS does not name him. In those months the ship had come home to the west coast and had not yet sailed for Guam.

No birth, death, or hometown was in the sources fetched for this ship.

Nothing before the cruiser is in the NavSource line.

His command is postwar. NavSource starts him on 12 March 1946, the day it relieves Thomas Joseph Kelly, and relieves him on 23 October 1946. DANFS has the cruiser on the west coast until 1 November 1946, when she headed back to the western Pacific and reached Guam on the 15th. That sailing falls after his relief on this list.

The list prints rear admiral as his final rank and names no later ship.
