- USS Oakland (CL-95) Captain from 19 May 1946 · Relieved on 26 April 1947
Thomas Joseph Casey had the light cruiser Oakland (CL-95) from 19 May 1946 until 26 April 1947. NavSource lists him as a captain and gives no higher final rank. That is the whole of what could be fetched and tied to this officer.
Not in the NavSource line. No birth date or birthplace was found on a page that could be saved and that named this captain rather than another Thomas Casey.
Not stated. NavSource does not give an Academy class.
He was not her wartime captain. Captain Allen Philip Calvert had her from 27 August 1945, through the surrender in Tokyo Bay and the Magic Carpet voyages, and Casey relieved him on 19 May 1946. DANFS places the ship, in the first half of 1946, in overhaul at the Puget Sound Navy Yard, and then at San Diego as a fleet gunnery training ship through the end of that year. On 6 January 1947 she sailed for the Far East. Casey's relief on 26 April 1947 falls during the China cruise that began at Tsing-tao on 30 March. DANFS does not name him.
NavSource ends the command on 26 April 1947 and names Captain John Newton Opie III as the next officer. Nothing after that date was fetched for Casey.
