Victorious
SYDNEY, N.S.W., AUSTRALIA. 1945-02-10/11. THE ROYAL NAVY AIRCRAFT CARRIER HMS VICTORIOUS ARRIVING WITH UNITS OF THE BRITISH PACIFIC FLEET. Public domain.

HMS Victorious was a fleet carrier of the Royal Navy and wore pennant number 38. Captain Michael Maynard Denny commanded her from 8 December 1943. He remained in that post until he was relieved on 15 August 1945.

On 1 April 1945, during the Okinawa operation, Victorious was with Task Force 57. Denny was still her captain on that day.

With Task Force 57 she was employed against the Sakishima airfields. She came through that duty still afloat.

Victorious survived the war. The hull outlasted the fighting and was still in being when Denny left her on 15 August 1945.
