Haruna was a sister of Kongo, launched at Kobe on 14 December 1913 and rebuilt as a fast battleship. At Midway she screened the carriers with Kirishima and was not sunk.
On 25 October 1944 she was in Kurita's line off Samar. She was in the chase of the escort carriers. No ship sunk that morning is credited to her alone. She was not sunk.
She was still in service the next summer. On 28 July 1945 American carrier aircraft sank her at Kure. Not credited to one plane.
