Photos and infoKongo-class battleship. With Hiei, Tone, and Chikuma she fired on Edsall on 1 March 1942. On 13 November she was in Abe's night action and took one hit. Two nights later, off Savo Island, she hit South Dakota and was then wrecked by Washington. She capsized that morning.
Kongo classOne hit on the night of 13 November 1942, and not sunk then. Washington's 16-inch gunfire wrecked her on the night of 14-15 November. She capsized at 03:25 on 15 November 1942. South Dakota was in that fight and did not sink her. Also in the force that sank Edsall.
