Photos and infoNew Orleans-class heavy cruiser. Led the cruiser line at Tassafaronga and lost her bow to torpedoes. Not pinned to one Japanese ship. She was repaired and scrapped in 1959. The cruiser sunk after delivering bomb parts to Tinian was Indianapolis.
New Orleans classWright's flagship at Tassafaronga. Two torpedoes blew her bow in. Repaired, and she survived the war. Decommissioned 10 February 1947. Sold for scrap 14 August 1959. She did not carry the atomic bomb.
