Photos and info
Sunk

Cargo ship built at Tama for Mitsui and completed on 18 November 1924. Wartime register about 4,603 tons. The Navy took her as an auxiliary transport in 1941. She reached Kwajalein from Truk on 16 January 1944. On 30 January, in the pre-invasion strike, she was hit and sank in about 15 minutes. Some accounts say 31 January and planes from Bunker Hill. A U.S. record of that day's bombardment credits the destroyer Burns. Not credited to one plane or one ship. This is not her sister Akagisan Maru.
