Fubuki-class destroyer. The name is the tide. She was flagship of Destroyer Division 7, with Sazanami and Akebono. On the first morning of the war she shelled Midway with Sazanami. On 3 March 1942 she fired on Perch and took all 59 of the crew off. At Coral Sea she was in the screen of Shokaku and Zuikaku, and she brought the damaged Shokaku out. She was still afloat at the surrender, the only Fubuki that was. A near-miss at Manila in November 1944 had killed 23 of her men and finished one engine. She was broken up on 4 August 1948.
