USS Hammann (DD-412) was a Sims-class destroyer of the United States Navy. A. E. True became her captain on 11 August 1939.

She operated in the screen of the carrier Yorktown. On 8 May 1942, in the Battle of the Coral Sea, she held that station and was still afloat at the end of the day.

She was with Yorktown again at the Battle of Midway, dated 4 June 1942. Her loss came two days later.

On 6 June 1942 Hammann was alongside the damaged Yorktown when the submarine I-168 attacked. I-168 torpedoed Hammann and the abandoned carrier. Hammann sank at once.

Yorktown went down the next morning. The destroyer had been sunk by the same submarine that finished the carrier.
