Fuso was a battleship of the Imperial Japanese Navy. Her wartime end came in Surigao Strait on 25 October 1944, when she went down with Vice Admiral Shoji Nishimura's force.

Mitsuo Kinoshita was her captain from 15 September 1941. Keizo Komura took command on 5 December 1942 and was relieved on 1 June 1943.

Nobumichi Tsuruoka succeeded Komura that same day, 1 June 1943. Masami Ban became captain on 23 February 1944 and was still in command when the ship was lost.

On 25 October 1944 Fuso fought in the Battle of Surigao Strait as part of Nishimura's force. She was sunk in the strait that day.

American destroyers and the American battle line put her down with gunfire and torpedoes. The loss is not credited to any one ship.

The destroyer Shigure got out of the strait. Fuso did not. Captain Ban went down with her on 25 October 1944.
