USS President Hayes (AP-39) was a President Jackson-class transport of the United States Navy. Newport News built her, and she was launched on 4 October 1940.

The Navy commissioned President Hayes on 15 December 1941. She was a transport, a ship meant to carry troops and set them down on a hostile shore.

On 7 August 1942 she took part in the landings on Guadalcanal and Tulagi. That evening, with Francis Wyse Benson in command, she landed the 2nd Marines on the northeastern side of Guadalcanal.

On 1 February 1943 the Navy reclassified her APA-20. The name President Hayes stayed with the hull under the new number. President Hayes survived the war. The Navy decommissioned her at Mare Island on 30 June 1949.
