Photos and infoPorter-class destroyer. The morning after Savo Island she and Ellet scuttled the wrecked Canberra. She was not in that night fight. At Vella Lavella she attacked alone after Chevalier and O'Bannon were locked together, and a Japanese torpedo took her bow off. The record does not name which Japanese ship fired it.
