SunkType B1 submarine. On 15 September 1942, southeast of Guadalcanal, one spread of her torpedoes hit three ships: Wasp, the destroyer O'Brien, and North Carolina. Wasp was scuttled that evening. O'Brien foundered on 19 October on the way to Pearl Harbor. North Carolina was not sunk. USS Radford depth-charged I-19 on 25 November 1943, west of Makin, and she was lost with all hands.
