USS Crescent City (AP-40) was a United States Navy transport and the name ship of her class. Bethlehem built her at Sparrows Point. She was launched on 17 February 1940 and commissioned on 10 October 1941.

On 7 August 1942 she took part in the landings on Guadalcanal and Tulagi. Captain Ingolf Norman Kiland was in command. That day she landed troops on Guadalcanal and brought down at least four planes.

On 1 February 1943 the Navy reclassified her APA-21. She went on as a transport under the new hull number. On 1 April 1945 she was at Okinawa, serving as a transport. She was still in service at Okinawa at the end of the war. Crescent City survived.
