USS Vincennes (CA-44) was a New Orleans-class heavy cruiser of the United States Navy. Burton H. Green became her captain on 24 February 1937.

On 4 June 1942 she was in the Battle of Midway, serving in the screen of Enterprise and Hornet. She was still in service after that day. Her last action was the Battle of Savo Island. On 9 August 1942 she led the northern patrol.

Japanese cruisers and torpedoes sank her there. The loss is not credited to any one Japanese ship. Captain Riefkohl was aboard her. The same day her guns damaged Kinugasa. One shell from Vincennes hit Kinugasa's steering gear.
