Kitkun Bay was a Casablanca-class escort carrier, CVE-71. Captain J. P. Whitney had her. Her air group was VC-5.
On 25 October 1944 she was one of Sprague's six carriers. She was not sunk by the Japanese guns. Planes from the escort carriers attacked Kurita's ships through the morning. Those attacks are not credited to one carrier, and the ships they damaged are not credited to Kitkun Bay alone.
She survived the war.
