Ikazuchi was a destroyer of the Imperial Japanese Navy, one of the Akatsuki class. Her captains changed several times before the fighting named for her. Torashiro Takeuchi took command on 1 December 1936. Shunsaku Kudo succeeded him on 1 November 1940. Hagemi Ishii became captain on 13 August 1942, and Saneho Maeda relieved Ishii on 27 August 1942.

Maeda had the ship for the night action of the Naval Battle of Guadalcanal on 13 November 1942. Ikazuchi went into that fight with the destroyers Akatsuki and Inazuma. She was damaged and got away.

On 15 November 1942 she was in the screen for the battleship night of the same battle. She came through that night still afloat. Kunio Ikunaga became captain on 25 October 1943. He was still in command when Ikazuchi was lost. On 13 April 1944 the American submarine USS Harder sank her south-southeast of Guam.
