| Fate | Afloat. Commissioned as the oiler AO-28 on 23 October 1940. Converted to an escort carrier in 1942. At Leyte she was in Taffy 1, off northern Mindanao, about 120 miles south of the Samar gunfight. A kamikaze hit her flight deck off Okinawa on 4 May 1945. Eleven men were killed, twenty-five were missing, and twenty-one were seriously wounded. Not sunk. Decommissioned 24 October 1945. |
